So You’re Still Not Concerned About Cybersecurity – Here’s Why You Should Be

Every week we offer news in this space about a current cybersecurity threat, or an emerging issue that people need to be aware of in the field.
It’s all good information and if you haven’t followed it to date, I encourage you to read some of the latest here.
But for today’s entry, let me ask you a few questions. I have a sense that a lot of companies still don’t think cybersecurity concerns are for them, so you’re not acting on it.
So I’d like to know:
· Is most of your company’s critical information contained in your digital files?
· Does someone with access to your system consequently have access to your financial accounts?
· Is there sensitive information in your system about your customers?
· Is there sensitive information in your system about your employees?
· Do you use anything in your digital platforms to manage or control your operations?
· Do your customers interact with you through your digital platforms?
· Is most of your internal communication conducted through your digital platforms?
If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you’re at risk of serious loss in the event of a breach. This means that if you are hit with a breach, the result could conceivably be serious enough to end your company.
Maybe you think the odds of you being hit are so slim that you can’t justify the cost of taking protective measures. To that I would say three things:
1. It doesn’t cost as much as you think.
2. The odds of getting hit are nowhere near as slim as you think.
3. The cost of getting breached is so much greater than the cost of protecting yourself.
Perhaps you thought you were too small. Do you think hackers care how many employees you have? We've seen companies as small as two-to-five employees get attacked and have their data stolen. And yes, some of them have gone out of business too. Isn't it worth 30 minutes of your time to discuss how we can help?
Speaking of which, let me ask you one more question: Could you risk spending $4 million? Ransomware attackers have demanded as much as $4 million from some of their targets, just to unhand their systems and release their data so they can resume operations.
The attackers are overseas, anonymous and getting more clever by the day, and with every day you don’t pay, you can’t run your business.
If it was you, could you pay the ransom?
Paying someone like us to help you protect yourself is a much smarter investment. Contact me at dacarey@cybersynergies.io, or call 616.600.4180.
